This is a station editorial, I'm Randal J. Miller, station president. If you're over 40, the proposed "single payer" medical insurance program being proposed by the President and Congress, should scare you to death! Why? Because your parents will get worse and worse health care NOW, thanks to Medicare paying doctors and providers only 40 cents on the dollar, and a proposal to cut those re-imbursements by another 21 percent.
AND! Fast forward another 20 years. The "single payer" system will have all private insurance companies out of business, and you and I will depend on the government to determine if you and I need that pacemaker, hip replacement, or other major surgery, taking that decision out of the hands of you and I.
The word FREEDOM is never mentioned in the debate....only those 12 million Americans who DON'T have health insurance get mentioned as the reason we're going to supposedly fix health care.
The health insurance industry has floated plenty of proposals to insure those 12 million folks, but the President and Congress aren't listening because they, the GOVERNMENT, want to control health care. Like that's worked out for the Veterans Administration, the Post Office, or the latest boondogle, the nearly one-trillion dollar economic stimulus plan.
It's time to speak up to your US congressmen and senators and tell them YOU want to decide your health care, NOT the government. Tell them NOW, before it's too late.
That's our opinion, we welcome yours. Our e-mail address is:

Political campaigns are a necessary part of our great American democracy. A part of the political campaign process is the placement of signs to show support of a candidate. I have had numerous requests from supporters for signs and will be happy to supply them.
However, I feel that it is too early to place signs and do not want anyone to have to move them every time the lawn needs to be mowed, in the way of any fieldwork or have grass and weeds growing up or around them which could cause a lawn to become unsightly. Also signs are subject to the wind, weather and theft. We have given very few signs out to those that have specially requested to have them and will do so if someone would want one now. My preference is to wait at least until the mowing season has passed for the above mentioned reasons. I do not fault anyone for having signs out now. It is simply my preference to not have signs out yet.

This letter was sent to our local state legislators this morning by Randal J. Miller, president of the Miller Media Group:
The listeners I serve with my radio stations that are in your district, are in jeopardy of losing most of the basic services offered by the State of Illinois, especially those having low income or disabilities.
The previous governor buried our state in the hole we're in right now.
I know all of you in Springfield are trying to do the right thing, for which I'm grateful.
But, there must be some tough decisions made right now--this week--before critical state services to my listeners who are on low incomes, or have disabilities, are curtailed.
I would ask you to do 2 things:
1. Ask all state agencies to take a 3% across the board cut in expenses. Even with tough economic times, the state has continued to spend. This would amount to millions of dollars in savings.
2. Pass a TEMPORARY hike in the state income tax, for a 2 year period, and make sure it has a provision to SUNSET at the end of 2 years. I don't like paying more taxes, more than anybody else, but we as a state have got to pay our bills, past and present.
Between these 2 measures, state government SHOULD be able to live within its means, and continue to provide vital state services to those of my listening audience that rely on those services to live and learn.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my request, and thanks for your service to our district.
Sincerely,
Randal J. Miller
President
