The Illinois congressional delegation is asking President Obama for a federal disaster declaration for 15 counties hit by last week’s tornadoes. The lawmakers wrote in support of Governor Quinn’s request to help many central and southern Illinois counties. Six people were killed and at least 180 people were hurt when 24 tornadoes touched down across the state. The letter sent by the delegation yesterday says that the storms were part of the fourth largest November tornado outbreak in U.S. history.
