A state lawmaker from Elgin says Illinois businesses should have to give a little to get a little. Democrat Sen. Mike Noland says he wants to couple House Speaker Mike Madigan's plan to cut the state corporate income tax in half with a requirement that businesses pay a higher minimum wage. Noland wants to boost the state minimum wage from the current eight-25-an-hour to 12-dollars, which would be the highest in the nation. Business groups don't like the idea, pointing out that small business owners who pay taxes as individuals wouldn't get the tax break but would still have to pay the higher wages.
