Country music icon George Jones passed away at age 81.

Jones was recently hospitalized with fever and irregular blood pressure.

Born in 1931, Jones was the singer of enduring Country music hits including "She Thinks I Still Care," "White Lightning," "Walk Through This World With Me," "Tender Years" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today," and so many more hits heard on RegionalDailyNews.com partner, Hogg Country 102.5 WJRE.

WJRE will host various tribute shows to the artist as he was one of the most influential singers in country music.

Country superstar Tim McGraw tweeted earlier today "Gone ...... George Jones .....man he was country music".

"So sad to hear about the passing of George Jones today. Country music has lost one of our pioneers and legendary icons. You will never be forgotten." said Jason's Aldean in a Facebook post.
