Student Athletes Can Opt Out Of Gym

Disabled student athletes are now allowed to opt out of their gym classes.  A new law makes it possible, but they have to participate in sports outside of school.  The measure was prompted by Lockport Township High School student Tyler Woodworth, who wanted to take a computer design course but couldn’t because he had to take P.E.  But, after pushing for the new law, Woodworth and other disabled student athletes will be able to concentrate on classes that might boost their careers after graduation.
