Columbus Day will be observed on Monday and while there is a pretty healthy debate as to whether or not Columbus actually did discover America, there is no debate about the fact that several changes will take place.
In Kewanee, City Hall and the Transfer Station will be closed for the day. There will be no landscape waste pickup in Kewanee on Monday, however there will be no change to the garbage collection schedule.
It’s a Federal Holiday and the United States Post Office will be closed on Monday with no mail delivery or window service.
The Court system in Henry County will be closed on Monday and it is also a Federal Reserve Bank Holiday and most if not all banks will be closed for the day.
All Secretary of State Facilities will be closed for the day and in Kewanee, DMV will also be closed tomorrow on Saturday and will re-open next Tuesday morning.
Area schools including Black Hawk College will also be closed on Monday and will re-open on Tuesday.
Offices of the Henry and Stark County Health Departments will also be closed for the day with limited home health and homemaker staff working to provide necessary in home care.
