Filed Trips And Habitat

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is reminding school teachers and administrators, they can take students on a field trip to study some aspect of Illinois' biodiversity with the help of an Illinois Biodiversity Field Trip Grant.  Field trip sites may include state parks, natural areas, natural history museums and nature centers.  Instructions and application forms are available at the I-D-N-R website.  The application deadline is January 31st, 2014.

Schoolyard Wildlife Habitat Action Grants are also available from the I-D-N-R.  These grants are meant to involve students in hands-on natural resources stewardship.  Schools use grant money to create a wildlife habitat area using native Illinois plants.  The application deadline for Schoolyard Wildlife Habitat Action Grants is November 30th.
