Gene A. Williams, 74, of Geneseo passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at his home. A memorial service celebrating Gene’s life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 11th at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Geneseo, IL. Rev. Dr. David Esche will officiate. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Gene will be 1 hour prior to the memorial service (10-11 AM) Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to Rebuilding Together.
Gene was born October 29, 1938 in Canton, IL, the son of Perry and Olivene (Ellis) Williams. He was a graduate of Canton Senior High School in Canton, IL. Gene was united in marriage to Patricia A. Averill on August 19, 1958 in Lewiston, IL. He worked at Case I.H. for 30 years as a welder, retiring in 1992. Gene belonged to the Geneseo Gun Club. He played softball when he was younger and enjoyed playing the guitar. He had a true love for country music.
Survivors include his wife: Pat; 2 sons: Mark Williams of Geneseo, IL and Steve Williams of Des Moines, IA; 1 daughter: Jennifer Walsh of Millersville, MD; 4 grandchildren: Kevin Williams, Marcus Williams, Matthew Walsh, and Aidan Walsh; 3 sisters: Betty Kinzer of Geneseo, IL, Linda Voorshees of Ohio, and Judy Swearingen of California.
