Virgil G. VanWynsberg, 88, of Kewanee, died at 10:10 PM, Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Kewanee Care Home.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 18, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetis Association. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
He was born December 21, 1924 in Atkinson, the son of Cashmere and Lillian VanWynsberg. She married Juanita Barnes on February 12, 1944 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on June 13, 1976. Survivors include four sons, Ronald (Ginnie) VanWynsberg of Galesburg and Steven (Ruth) VanWynsberg, Mark (Linda)VanWynsberg and Richard (Carmen) VanWynsberg, all of Kewanee, two daughters, Linda (Van) DeVilder of Kewanee and Patti VanWynsberg of Galesburg, a brother, BobVanWynsberg, of Toulon, a sister, Mildred Buskirk of Moline, eighteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Vicki Forrest, a son, Michael, two brothers, Merle and Gail VanWynesberg and a sister, Myrtle Stover.
Virgil was a self-employed truck driver. He had also owned and operated the Shamrock Bar for 14 years. He enjoyed camping, his family and his dogs, Sammy and Katie.
