Agnes E. Beschorner, 92, of Geneseo, died peacefully with her closest family being with her at Hammond Henry Hospital on Sunday, July 14, 2013. She has now joined the lord in a better life. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Agnes’s life will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 18 at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo. Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Agnes will be 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home where a Women of the Moose service will be held at 4:45 PM and a scripture service will be conducted at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be left to the Geneseo Animal Shelter or the Hammond Henry Hospital Foundation.
Agnes was born July 10, 1921 in Lyon County, Minnesota, the daughter of Victor and Clara (DeSutter) Vanhyfte. She was the youngest of five children. Agnes moved to Illinois in 1942 and was united in marriage to Wilbert Gernant on April 14, 1945. They had one child, Gerald Gernant. Wilbert died December 31, 1971. Agnes then married Chester “Bushy” Beschorner on January 18, 1975. Chester died August 14, 1999. Agnes was a loyal employee of GWK Enterprises of Geneseo for over 50 years. She loved her work and enjoyed “being with people”.
Agnes was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church and the Women of the Moose, Geneseo Lodge. She loved her family, friends, and her son’s Chihuahua’s, She was a loyal Cubs fan, enjoyed traveling, and gathering with friends.
Survivors include her son: Gerald “Butch” (Merry) Gernant of Geneseo; stepdaughter: Cheryl Benoodt of Geneseo; 2 grandsons: William (Misha) Gernant of Cambridge and Shawn (Sandi) Gernant Owen of Pendergrass, GA; step-granddaughter: Tracy (Greg) Wenbman of Naples FL; 5 great grandchildren: Harrison (Jen) Gernant and Stephen Gernant of Geneseo; Hanna and Samantha Moody of Cambridge; and Josh Moody of East Moline; 4 great-great-grandchildren: Aidyn, Tristan, and Evelyn Gernant of Geneseo and McKenzie Rae Moody of East Moline.
Agnes was preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, and four brothers.
