Marilyn J. Mirocha, 79, of Kewanee, passed away at 9:40 PM, Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Kewanee Care Home.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 17 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Johndamaseni Zilimu. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, September 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
She was born January 9, 1934 in Kewanee, the daughter of Wyville and Dorothy (Goodale) Smith. She married Michael F. “Mickey” Mirocha on May 28, 1960 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2000. Survivors include her daughter, Michele (Terry) Jones of Kewanee, three sons, Mark (Penny) Mirocha of Sugar Grove, IL, Martin (Teresa) Mirocha and Matthew (Heather) Mirocha, both of Kewanee, eight grandchildren, Megan (Brad), Melissa, Amber, Molly, Emily, Ty, Mackenzie and Mya and great granddaughter, Marissa. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Smith and a grandson, Brett Mirocha.
Marilyn graduated from Kewanee High School in 1951. She was a homemaker or often referred to as a residential engineer. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was an avid bowler having served as team captain and had been inducted into the Kewanee Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed watching sports and episodes of Castle, playing Bingo and especially going to the casino and being a “professional” gambler. She also enjoyed attending her kids activities and she especially loved her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
