Linda L. Harrington, 59, of Wyoming, formerly of Toulon and Peoria, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a two year battle with breast cancer.Linda was born July 5, 1954 to Dean and Norma (Price) Grieve. She married Don Harrington on March 3, 1990. He passed away August 1, 2003.
She graduated from Valley Grade School and Wyoming High School, then went to work for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Peoria. She began as a file clerk and was office manager when she left Liberty. She then worked for Merle Huff and Robby Biggliazi in their Allstate Insurance office in Peoria and also worked for Consolidated Properties. She left these jobs to care for her handicapped sister, Terrie Sue Grieve, fulltime in her home.
Survivors include a brother, Phil Grieve; sisters, Sue (Ron) Herridge, Sherri (Gary), and Terri Sue Grieve. Also surviving are a nephew, Matt (Becca) Herridge; a niece, Amber (Shannon) Krause; a great niece, Bailey Herridge; a great nephew, Mitchell Herridge; and many aunts, uncles and cousins on the Grieve side. Other survivors include two sisters-in-law, Doris Davis and Alice Harrington; along with many nieces and nephews on the Harrington side.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an aunt, and an uncle.
Linda cared for Terri for over 20 years after their mother passed away, even after being diagnosed and treated for cancer during the past two years. She will always be remembered for her big smile which was surpassed only by her even bigger heart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Toulon. Rev. Prosper Tournear will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
