Martha Sue Brannock, 77, of Kewanee, Il. died at 3:15 A.M. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Toulon Health Care Center.
Sue was born August 11, 1936 in Culberson, N.C. the daughter of Walter and Bennie Faye (Nichols) Roberson. She grew up in Culberson and graduated from Alexander Wilson High School in Swepsonville, N.C.
Sue married James L. Brannock on June 11, 1955 in Swepsonville.. He survives along with three sons James L. (Jeannie) Brannock Jr. of Inverness, Fl., Robert (Sandy) Brannock of Warrington, Mo. and Michael (Jennifer) Brannock of Kewanee, Il. a daughter Cindy (John) McCune of North Collins, N.Y. eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, one sister Johnnie Lea (Harold) Perry of Graham, N.C. and a brother Rickey (Lil) Roberson of Las Vegas, Nv.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
While living in Florida, Sue decorated cakes, taught cake decorating and operated her own catering service. While in Kewanee, she was employed at the former Eagles grocery Store where she worked in the bakery prior to her retirement. She also worked as a floral arranger at Hillside Florist in Kewanee. She was a member of the Kewanee Lions Club and the First Baptist Church Choir of Kewanee for many years. Sue loved to cook and bake and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She will be remembered as a great cook.
Cremation was accorded. There will be no local visitation or services. Private family inurnment will be in North Carolina at a later date.
