Mary L. Johnson, 72, of Annawan, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care. A funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Annawan. Father Mark Miller will celebrate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Annawan. There will be no visitation. In Lieu of flowers the family request memorials may be made to the Annawan/Alba Rescue Squad, Annawan/Alba Library or Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Vandemore Funeral Homes Ltd, Atkinson is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary was born on April 11, 1941 in Annawan, IL, the daughter of Herbert C. and Marguerite (Billiet) Vandersnick. She was a 1959 graduate of Annawan High School. She was united in marriage to Ronald E. Johnson on May 28, 1966 in Annawan, IL.
Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar and & Rosary society. She also served as a former Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher. She was an avid football fan and enjoyed reading. Her faith was strong and she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Ron; 2 sons: Darin (Sarah) Johnson, Coralville, IA, Dirk (Anna) Johnson, Feltwell, England; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Luke Johnson, Anastasia Johnson; 1 brother: Donald (Betty) Bradley, Virginia Beach, VA; 1 sister: Barbara (Marvin) Haverback, Annawan, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
