Nancy Louise Porske Gust, 80, of Cambridge passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Per Nancy’s request, cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will be held. Memorials may be left in her name to breast cancer research. Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nancy was born September 1, 1933 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of Albert and Irma (Tollenaer) Porske. She fell deeply in love with Peter M. Gust and they were united in marriage on March 17, 1957 in Galesburg, IL. Nancy was a homemaker in her own home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. Friendships were important and she remained close to her friends of 75 years: Nancy VerCautren and JoAnn Waller. Every year, she and a group of school friends, continued getting together. She leaves behind good friends in Arizona as well. Nancy loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Moline. She enjoyed planting flowers, and decorating her home. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing board games with her family. Nancy will be greatly missed and long remembered by those her knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband: Peter, 3 children: Nancie Lance of Moline, Lyn Gatling of Moline, and Michael Gust of Evergreen, CO; 4 grandchildren: Staci Coleman, Ami Gatling, Julie Book, and Nicholas Gust; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, and her daughter: Christina Gust.
