Ward D. “Bud” Norton, 87, of Knoxville, Il. and formerly of Neponset, Il. died at 7:35 A.M. Friday, December 20, 2013 at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. Ward was born February 9, 1926 in Neponset, Il. the son of John and Ann (Armstrong) Norton. He was reared and educated in Neponset and graduated from Neponset High School in 1943. Ward married Dorothy Kjellenberg on February 9, 1962 in Morrison, Il. She preceded him in death in 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Clarence and Harry Norton.
Surviving are four sons Gary (Sylvia) Norton of Germantown Hills, Il. Mark (Brenda) Norton of St. Louis, Mo., Lane (Julia) Norton of Auburn, Il., Brian (Carol) Kjellenberg of Yates City, Il., one daughter Pam (Jack) Farran of Rapid City, S.D. eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters Jo (Jack) Verbout of Neponset, Pat (Sam) Henson of Mission, Tx. and one brother Bob (Barbara) Norton of Annawan. He also leaves his very special friend, Imogene Crow.
Ward was an Army veteran of WWII. He had retired from the Galesburg Post Office. He enjoyed making crafts and attending craft shows with his wife Dorothy.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Andrew Hopp of the Neponset United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, Neponset, Il. where military honors will be accorded the Neponset American Legion Post #875.
