Toulon –Mary Kristin Keane, 36, of Toulon, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014, at her residence.
Kristin was born December 16, 1977 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Roger J. and Mary Matson Hawk. She married Patrick Keane on December 14, 2002, in Toulon. He survives, along with their children, Kalleigh and Kellan Keane.
Surviving are her parents of Toulon. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold & Kathleen Matson and Philip & Mildred Hawk.
She was a 1996 graduate of Stark County High School and a 2000 graduate of Monmouth College with a BA degree in Business Administration. Kristin worked at Proctor Partners Insurance in Peoria and State Bank of Toulon. For the last ten years she was Director of Marketing and Development at Kewanee Hospital.
Kristin was a member of Alpha Chapter, Kappa Kappa Gamma; Chapter BY, P.E.O.; Kiwanis Club in Kewanee; and she served on the board of Stark County Ventures. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Toulon, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.
Kristin enjoyed boating, swimming, shopping, trips to Disney World, the family home at the Lake of the Ozarks, and spending time with her precious friends. These same friends, along with other community members, rallied to her support over the past year providing meals to her family through “Kristin’s Kitchen”. Her husband and children were the light of her life, and Kristin excelled in adding “sparkle” to even the simplest celebration.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at First Congregational Church, Toulon. Rev. Wayne McLeod will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Wethersfield Township Cemetery, Kewanee.
