James C. Steiner 70 of Grapevine Texas formerly of Geneseo passed away unexpectedly at his home December 20, 2013. Cremation rites have been accorded and graveside services will be held at a later date at the Rock IslandNationalCemetery, where military honors will be accorded. James was born on March 11, 1943 in Geneseo the son of Carl C. & Mazie M.( Ellingsworth) Steiner. James was a graduate of GeneseoSenior High School. James proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine corps from 1963-1967 where he received an honorable discharge as a sergeant.
James graduated from the Ground Controlled Approach Controller “C” course at the NavalAirTechnicalTrainingCenter. James later went on to attend aviation school. James was an air traffic controller for many years, in addition he obtained his commercial pilot’s license. He was an avid golfer, a huge NASCAR racing fan, enjoyed flying, motorcycles, boating, and fishing. He lived a full life and had many friends who remember him warmly.
Survivors include His Daughter: Leslie Steiner, granddaughter Isabella Steiner, Indianapolis, IN, His son: James Steiner II, daughter in-law: Brandy Steiner, granddaughter: Ally Steiner, Indianapolis, In. a sister: Judy Kelley, Geneseo, IL, nieces and nephews: Ann Scranton, Jason Johnson Sr., Kim Bollinger, Jared Kelley, and nieces, nephews, and a great niece.
