After a long illness C. William “Bill” Taylor, 85, of Annawan passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Kewanee Care Nursing Home. As he wished, there will be no funeral or calling hours. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Annawan Rescue Van or the Annawan Alba Library. Vandemore Funeral Home in Atkinson is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bill was born November 4, 1928 in Buda, IL the son of James and Della (Stocking) Taylor. He was a graduate of Buda High School. On September 10, 1950 he married Doris Shaw in the Annawan Community Church.
Bill was an Army veteran serving his country in Korea. After his discharged he farmed. He has served on the Alba Township Board as Secretary and as Treasurer of the Annawan Alba Library. In 1989 ill health forced him to retire. Bill had a keen interest in current events and enjoyed reading and music. He was devoted to his family and met life’s challenges with courage and determination.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Doris; daughters: Christine Dersch of Savannah, Georgia; Cathleen (Barry) Thompson of Minooka, IL; son: Michael Taylor of Annawan; grandchildren: Ross and Reid Dersch of Savannah, Georgia; Doyle and Derek Thompson of Minooka, IL; Julie (Forest) Eagle of Daleville, Alabama, and Jon (Christine) Taylor of Peoria, Illinois; great grandchildren: Tori, Rain, and Reagan Eagle; and brother: John Taylor or Princeton, IL.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Marie Fryman, Lucille Bellis, and Ruth Faulkner; and brothers: Jim Taylor and Bob Taylor.
