David H. Johnson

David H. Johnson, 51, of Geneseo passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at his home. A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Vandemore Funeral Home in Geneseo. Rev. Melva England will officiate. Per his request cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation for David will be 5:30-7:00 PM on Wednesday (1 ½ hours) prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the David Johnson Memorial Fund.

David was born November 10, 1962 in Geneseo, IL the son of Harold and Joan (Kasnick) Johnson. He attended Geneseo schools and was a graduate of the Musicians Guitar Institute of Technology. David was united in marriage to Melissa Egert in Geneseo and out of that marriage his son, Zachary was born. He then later married Connie Keag of Geneseo. David was a lifetime musician and played in numerous bands in the area and most recently enjoyed playing with his son Zack for they both shared a love of music. David was a very accomplished and talented musician and his true passion was for music and playing it. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. David enjoyed providing music for all the family functions and that is something his family will always cherish and remember. He was very proud of his son, Zack and his musical career and talent.

David is survived by his parents: Harold and Joan Johnson of Geneseo; 1 son: Zachary Johnson of East Moline, IL; 1sister: Sue (Greg) Schurke of Galesburg, IL; 5 aunts: Barb Erdman of Geneseo, Laura Hostens of Geneseo, Nancy Clemenson of Geneseo, Kathy Cross of Colona, IL, and Carolyn Winne of Avon Park, FL; niece: Sarah (Arthur Rodriguez) Sand of Newberg, OR and nephew: Adam Cleary of Moline, IL; and his many many special musician friends that he had played with throughout his career.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents.
