KEWANEE - Harold J. “Jim” Moats Sr., 72, of Kewanee, died at 2:45 PM, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Kewanee Care Home.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 1 at First Baptist Church in Kewanee. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshment following the services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
He was born July 26, 1941 in Wyoming, IL, the son of Richard and Mildred Alice (Hinkley) Moats. Survivors include a son, Harold (Sharon) Moats Jr. of Kewanee, two daughters, Carole Anne (Butch) Sexton of Cambridge and Catherine Alice Moats of Kewanee, a brother, Ray Moats of Pekin, IL, two sisters, Shirley (Bob) Leasman of Tulsa, OK and Carol “Butch” Logsdon of Chillicothe, IL, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren with one on the way and his former wife, Carole Anne Moats of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Jim was a scrapper and enjoyed junking, camping, fishing, watching westerns, collecting coins and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed tormenting people, especially his grandchildren. This obituary may be viewed and private condolences left at www.ruxfuneralhome.com.
