KEWANEE - Lloyd, E. “Bud” Mercer Jr., 54, of Kewanee, died at 3:45 AM, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Cremation will accorded following the services. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
He was born February 26, 1960 in Kewanee, the son of Lloyd and Norma (Loughe) Mercer Sr. He married Donetta K. Young on April 3, 2010 at the Fairview United Methodist Church in rural Annawan. She survives, as do his mother of Kewanee, a daughter, Melissa Mercer of Kewanee, two sons, Lloyd Mercer III of Kewanee and Joshua Mercer of Maine, a step-daughter, Katelyn Murphy of Kewanee, a step-son, Jack Young of Kewanee, three brothers, Ted (Betty) Mercer, Terry (Kerinda) Mercer and Jason (Debbie) Mercer, all of Kewanee, four sisters, Debbie (Kevin) Winter, Mickee Salz and Jeri Erickson, all of Kewanee and Penny (John) Erickson of Sheffield, four grandchildren, William Crain of Texas, Draven and Naomi Crain, both of Bradford and Amy Entas of Kewanee and a step-grandson, Alexander Smith. He was preceded in death by his father and two brother-in-laws, Keith Salz and Russell Erickson Sr.
Bud attended Kewanee schools and had worked construction, had been a general handyman and had worked for Schnowske’s Rendering Service in Cambridge and for Murphy’s Container Service. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, playing cribbage and cards and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
