Doris J. Parker, 91, formerly of Annawan, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at National Health Care – Mauldin in Greenville, South Carolina where she had relocated to be with her daughter. Funeral services celebrating Doris’ life will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Fairview United Methodist Church in rural Annawan, IL. Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation for Doris will be Wednesday, 1 hour prior to the service (9:30-10:30 AM) at the church in Annawan. Memorials may be left to the Fairview United Methodist Church.
Doris was born November 20, 1922 in Cornwall Township, IL the daughter of Perry G. and Ella (Hunt) Marshall. She married her high school sweetheart, Gene A. Parker, on May 17, 1941. He preceded her. Doris assisted her husband in farming and was a hard working farmer’s wife for 55 years in rural Annawan. She was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Annawan and a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau. Doris enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and embroidery. She was a doll collector and an excellent pie baker.
Survivors include: daughter: Judy Knudsen of Simpsonville, SC; son: Ronald (Pam) Parker of Ashland, OR, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Ruth Parker of Carbondale, IL;
and several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Edward and Harvey Marshall; and 1 sister: Hazel Pyle Fuller.
