Shirley E. DeBord, 89, of Kewanee, Il. died at 5:26 P.M. Friday, May 30, 2014 at her home. Shirley was born February 28, 1925 in Kewanee the daughter of Harley and Levina (Usadel) Adams. Shirley attended Kewanee Schools.
Shirley married Henry “Peck” DeBord on January 21, 1944 in Wilmington, N.C. The couple owned and operated the Happy Hour in Kewanee for many years prior to retirement. Peck died November 12, 1993. Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Doris Adams and Inez Peart and a brother Dale Adams.
Surviving are two sons Colin (Vicky) DeBord, Kirk (Linda) DeBord all of Kewanee, six grandchildren Kami DeBord, Jason (Michelle) DeBord, Erik DeBord, Megan (A.J.) Norville, Carrie (Kurt) Gustafson, Josh DeBord, two step grandchildren Jeffrey (Christina) Flack, Jennifer (James) Turner, great grandchildren include Dawson and Kale Stuckey, Ruby Norville, Benjamin DeBord, step great grandchildren Montana DeBord, Preston Claque, Corrieann Ince, Taylar Turner and Claire and Avery Flack and her special friend Garnet Kremzow.
Shirley had attended the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Kewanee. She enjoyed walking, reading and word search puzzles.
Cremation was accorded. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 6, 2014 in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. There will be no visitation.
