KEWANEE - Jerry Lee Weir Sr., 58, of Kewanee, died at 10:06 PM, Sunday, June 8, 2014 in the emergency room at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 13 at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, June 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, the Kewanee Rescue Squad or to the Kewanee American Legion.
He was born November 1, 1955 in Spring Valley, IL, the son of Raymond and Rita (Elgin) Weir. He married Tamara L. Simmons on March 24, 1978 in Kewanee. She survives, as do two sons, Jerry Lee Weir Jr. and David Austin Weir, both of Kewanee, a daughter, Sarah Lynn Weir of Kewanee, seven brothers, Robert Weir of Kewanee, Jeffrey Lee Weir of Arkansas, Dewayne (Theresa “Jo”) Weir, Elvis (Donna) Weir and Dale (Sue) Weir, all of Bradford, Matt (Rose) Weir of LaFayette and Audie Weir of Bradford, two sisters, Janet (Troy) Estes of Bradford and Angel (Shawn) Kenny of Tiskilwa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Wayne Weir.
Jerry graduated from Bradford High School. He was a painter and owner and operator of J. Weir Painting. He attended the First United Methodist Church and was co-founder of the Free Community Meals in Kewanee.
