William R. Goard, 83, of Kewanee, Il. died at 11:45 P.M. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Kewanee Care Home. Bill was born August 10, 1930 in Kewanee the son of Virgil and Katherine (Ray) Goard. Bill served in the U.S Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Lucille F. Fortman on February 20, 1949 in Kewanee. She survives along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Sandra Kay Goard in 1950. Bill and Lucille lived in Bellville, Il. and the Lake of the Ozarks for many years having moved to Kewanee earlier this month. Bill had been employed at McDonald Douglas Aircraft and later with Boeing Aircraft retiring in 1989. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and was a member of the Kewanee American Legion for over sixty years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on his pontoon boat in the Ozarks.
A memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck of Visitation Catholic Church St. John Paul II Parish will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee, Il. where military honors will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council.
