Elaine M. Blaser, 85, of Colona, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Colona. Rev. Duane Jack will celebrate. Burial will be in the Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Visitation for Elaine will be from 3 – 7 pm Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Geneseo; where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be left to the Elaine Blaser Memorial Fund.
Elaine was born on May 15, 1927 in Moline, the daughter of George and Alice (DeWaele) DePorter. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, Rock Island. Elaine was united in marriage to Robert L. Blaser on August 16, 1952 in Milan. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Colona and St. Martha’s Circle of the Altar & Rosary Society. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and dancing.
Survivors include her husband Robert Blaser, daughters (and spouses) Mary Ann (Marvin) Sempier, Jupiter, FL; Susan (Spencer) Grover, Carmel, IN; Luanne Kerlin, Lewisburg, PA; Joanne (John) Bergstrand, Coal Valley; Rita (Ron) Nelson, Geneseo; Julie (Jack) Yeargle, Moline; sons (and spouses) Robert (Lora) Blaser, Cary, NC; Jim (Lynn) Blaser, Geneseo, 25 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Carol Ehrecke, Blue Grass, IA; Joanne Jennings, Silvis; Terese Hays, Holland, MI; Marieta Holst, Walcott, IA; and a brother Allen DePorter, Milan.
She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Melissa Sempier, and brothers Don and Eugene DePorter.
