Raymond “Ray” Hanson, 70, of Kewanee died Monday, March 18th, 2013 at Kewanee Hospital Emergency Room. Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Schueneman & Tumbleson funeral home. The Rev. John Cochran will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Burial will be private. Memorials may be left for the family at the funeral home.
Ray was born, February 3, 1943 in Washington D.C. the son of Ray and Grace (Wagner) Hanson. He graduated from McHenry High School, and also was a graduate of Parson College. He married Glenda Yordy, September 9, 1998 in Kewanee. She survives as well as his mother Grace “Peg” of Kewanee. Ray is survived by 3 sons, Ray (Leah) Hanson III of Henderson, NV, James (Janice) Hanson of Bettendorf, IA, and Curt Radford of Normal, IL, 2 daughters survive, Erica Hodgson of New Berlin, WI, and Angela (Ben) Cardiff of Normal, IL. and 6 grandchildren. Ray is survived by 3 brothers John(Ellen) Hanson of Morris, IL, Tom (Mary) Hanson of Bloomington, IL, and Bill (Nancy) Hanson of Geneseo, IL.
Ray was preceded in death by his father.
Ray was employed as an independent contractor for his brother , Tom. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Ray enjoyed time with his family, playing cards, hunting, bicycling, and had rode in the RAGBRAI bicycle race several times. Ray had been a mentor to many people through the years, and enjoyed helping his fellow man.
