Washington lobbyist Jack Burkman says he is preparing legislation that would ban gay players from joining the National Football League. Burkman issued a statement saying he has political support for the bill, but wouldn't name any specific lawmakers behind it. Burkman adds that "we are losing our decency as a nation" and says that its a horrifying prospect for a mother to think that her son should be forced to shower with a gay man. Burkman says his idea for the bill came about after college football star Michael Sam of Missouri came out publicly as gay a few weeks ago. Sam is expected to be drafted in May's NFL Draft and would become the first openly gay player in the league.
