Giants Win Protest; Will Finish Game At Wrigley

The San Francisco Giants are the first team in 28 years to win a protest.  Tuesday's rain-shortened game between the Giants and Cubs at Wrigley Field was called after a four-hour, 34-minute delay due to unplayable field conditions.  The grounds crew had trouble covering the field with the tarp once the game was halted, resulting in excess water on the infield.  San Francisco, in the thick of a playoff race, claimed that not enough was done to dry the infield in a timely manner and decided to file a protest.  It's the first upheld protest since 1986.  The contest will resume Thursday in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Cubs batting and leading 2-0.
