Yadier Molina singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and the Cardinals hung on for a 3-2 win over the Nationals in D.C. Allen Craig had a two-run double for St. Louis. Shelby Miller got the win and Edward Mujica his second save. The Cards have traded wins and losses in their last nine games.
The Reds scored three times in the bottom of the 13th to earn a 5-4 victory over the Cubs. Luis Valbuena's two-run homer in the top half of the inning gave the Cubs a 4-2 lead. David DeJsus hit a solo shot for Chicago while Starlin Castro also drove in a run in the defeat. Michael Bowden took the loss in relief as the Cubbies lost their fourth in-a-row. Chicago is now 5-and-13.
Cleveland scored twice in the top of the eighth and held on for a 3-2 victory over the White Sox last night at The Cell. Conor Gillaspie hit a solo homer and Hector Gimenez drove in a run with a double for Chicago, which has lost four straight. Matt Thornton took the loss in relief for the Sox after starter Dylan Axelrod allowed just one run over six innings. Chicago is now 7-and-12 on the year.
