Shelby Miller fired a one-hit shutout to lead the Cardinals to a 3-0 win over the Rockies in the opener of a three-game series. Miller struck out 13 and walked none en route to improving to 5-and-2. Miller allowed a leadoff single to start the game before retiring the final 27 hitters. Carlos Beltran popped a solo homer while Pete Kozma and Jon Jay plated a run apiece for the Cardinals, who have won eight-of-nine. Jon Garland allowed all three runs in five innings to fall to 3-and-3. Colorado has dropped three straight and four-of-five.
