Cubs Blank White Sox In Crosstown Rivalry Opener

The Cubs held their crosstown rivals to two hits in a 7-0 win over the White Sox on the southside of Chicago at U.S. Celluar Field yesterday.  Jeff Samardzija went the distance, surrendering two walks while striking out eight to improve to 3-and-6.  Julio Borbon hit a two-run homer while Anthony Rizzo smacked a double and triple while driving in two for the Cubbies. 

Alfonso Soriano was 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Northsiders won their second straight since a six-game slide.  Jose Quintana gave up four runs over six frames for the ChiSox and fell to 3-and-2.  The White Sox saw a three-game winning streak come to an end.
