Jake Arrieta threw seven shutout innings and the Cubs bullpen finished it out as Chicago blanked St. Louis 7-0 from Wrigley Field. Arrieta only gave up two hits and struck out seven for his first win with the North Siders. Nate Schierholtz drove in three runs at the plate while Darwin Barney, Welington Castillo and Donnie Murphy all collected two hits a piece. The Cubs put a halt to their four-game skid. Jake Westbrook suffered his eighth loss as he labored through six-and-two-thirds innings, getting knocked around for seven runs on eight hits. Carlos Beltran had both of St Louis' hits as the Cards have lost three of their last four against the Cubs.
